There are moments when I am struck by the love of God with a fresh clarity and amazement. I had one on Wednesday. It was at our LIFE group.(http://www.thekingscentre.org.uk/life)

We were looking at what God asked Hosea to do for his wife Gomer. He has already told him to marry this promiscuous woman, to demonstrate the way that He, God, loves his people. As expected Gomer has not remained faithful to Hosea for very long.

The Lord says: "The Lord said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress." Hosea 3:1

If that wasn't enough, Hosea has to buy her out of debt or maybe even slavery. He then pleads with her to be faithful to him and says that he won't be intimate with her, but will wait for her. Presumably to come in love to him.

It is staggering when I consider my half-baked attempts to serve God and my daily unfaithfulness to him, that in the Lord Jesus he goes to me again and again. He loves me. He buys me. Not with money or barley, but with his precious blood, his perfect life given at the cross. And he waits. He waits day after day for me to love Him as He has loved me.

I'm not very good at waiting. Praise God that He is!
