I'm sitting listening to music that in any other circumstance I would quite enjoy. But now I hate Michael Buble and despite Pharrell Williams attempts to persuade me otherwise, I'm not "Happy, happy, happy!". I'm trying to book the delivery of a fridge-freezer and my temperature is rising...

The problem is that the people at the other end of the line just won't do what I WANT. They haven't read my agenda for the day. They seem to have plans of their own that involves answering other customers before me. How dare they deny the sovereign will of Daf!

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
— 2 Peter 3:9

I'm not the most patient person in the world.

But God is.

2 Peter 3:9 tells us: 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

In other words, God is patiently waiting on a world full of people that reject him, mock him, hate him and ignore him, just so that some of them might come to Jesus, admit they need his forgiveness won at the cross, and find the joy of the relationship they were created for.

Just as stunning is God's patience with me. A man who knows God's love and goodness. A man who understands God's promises and plan. A man who Jesus has died for and yet still fails to love God and others in return. Yet God still waits on me. And day by day, by the power of His Spirit, changes me to be more like Jesus, His Son.

In a world of instant gratification, we need to pray for the patience of our loving Heavenly Father.

I got fed up of being on hold and hung up ages ago by the way....
